Voici quelques mots de vocabulaire et expressions incontournables :
Exprimer le temps qu’il fait (présent) Descring the weather
- Il fait beau. → Le temps est agréable. The weather is nice. It is a beautiful day
- Il fait mauvais. → Il pleut, il y a du vent, il fait gris…The weather is bad. It’s rainy, windy, or grey…
- Il fait chaud. It is hot
- Il fait froid. It’s cold.
- Il fait frais. → Ni trop chaud, ni trop froid. It’s cool (Not too hot, not too cold)
- Il fait lourd. → Il fait chaud et humide, presque orageux. It’s muggy. It’s hot and humid.
- Il y a du soleil. It’s sunny. The sun is out.
- Il y a du vent. It’s windy.
- Il y a des nuages. / C’est nuageux. It’s cloudy.
- Il pleut. It’s raining.
- Il neige. It’s snowing
- Il y a de l’orage. / Il y a des éclairs. / Il y a du tonnerre. There’s a storm/ lightning/ thunder.
🌡️ Parler de la température
- Il fait 25 degrés. It’s 25 degrees ( celsius)
- On est bien là, non ? Il ne fait ni trop chaud ni trop froid. Isn’t it nice ? It’s not too hot or too cold.
- Ça caille ! (familier) → Il fait très froid. It’s freezing !
- Il fait un froid de canard ! (expression idiomatique). It’s bitterly cold! It’s freezing cold!
- On étouffe ! / Il fait une chaleur de bête ! → Très chaud. It’s boiling !/ It’s unbearably hot.
- C’est la canicule. → Vague de chaleur. It’s a heatwave
🌤️ Exprimer un changement de temps Describing weather changes
- Le ciel se couvre. The sky is getting cloudy.
- Il va pleuvoir. It’s going to rain.
- Le soleil revient. The sun is coming back out.
- Les températures vont baisser / monter. The temperatures will drop/ rise.
- Le temps se dégrade. → Il va faire plus mauvais. The weather is getting worse.
- Ils annoncent de la pluie. → D’après la météo. Rain is in the forecast. They’re calling for rain.
- Il fait meilleur. The weather is nicer now.
💬 Petites phrases de conversation courante
- Quelles sont les prévisions pour ce week-end ? what’s the forecast for this weekend?
- Quel temps fait-il dehors/ en hiver/ en mai etc.. ? Quel temps fera-t-il demain ? What’s the weather like outside / in winter/ in May ? What will the weather be like tomorrow ?
- Quel temps de chien aujourd’hui ! What awfulj weather today ?
- Tu as vu ce temps ? On se croirait en novembre ! Heve you seen this weather? Feels like November!
- Heureusement qu’il fait beau aujourd’hui. Luckily, it’s nice today.
- J’espère qu’il fera beau ce week-end. I hope teh weather will be nice this weekend.
