Superstitions et croyances : Français vs Américains

Une étude récente de IFOP (Institut français d’opinion publique, institut de sondages et d’études de marché fondé en 1938) révèle que les Américains sont plus “superstitieux” que les Français : 69 % d’entre eux adhèrent à au moins une croyance occulte, contre 59 % des Français. Mais attention, les deux côtés de l’Atlantique montrent un intérêt croissant pour le mystérieux…
Fantômes et esprits :
Près d’un Américain sur deux (46 %) dit croire aux fantômes — c’est deux fois plus que les Français (24 %). Ce chiffre a explosé : en 1978, seuls 11 % des Américains y croyaient ! En France aussi, la croyance a bondi (de 5 % à 24 % en 40 ans).
La télépathie :
Les Français se distinguent par une préférence pour la télépathie (40 % contre 30 % aux États-Unis). Peut-être une touche de romantisme à la française ?
Miracles et diable :
Plus de 70 % des Américains croient aux miracles, contre 43 % des Français.
Et le diable ? 54 % des Américains pensent qu’il existe, contre seulement 24 % des Français.
Sorcières, OVNIS et astrologie :
Les Américains sont aussi deux fois plus nombreux à croire aux sorcières (34 % vs 18 %).
Côté OVNIS, 43 % des Américains y croient (et le chiffre augmente), contre 28 % des Français (en baisse).
Enfin, l’astrologie séduit davantage aux États-Unis (42 %) qu’en France (32 %).
En somme, les Américains croient plus volontiers à l’invisible, tandis que les Français restent plus rationnels… sauf quand il s’agit de lire leur horoscope !
