1) La règle / The rule
Pour mettre un verbe à l’infinitif à la forme négative, on place ne pas devant le verbe.
ne + pas + infinitif
To make an infinitive verb negative, we place ne pas before the verb.

2) Avec un autre verbe / With another verb
Quand il y a deux verbes, la négation se place devant l’infinitif.
When there are two verbs, the negation is placed before the infinitive.

I prefer not to go out.
He decides not to come.
We are going not to answer.
Be careful: with the near future, the negation surrounds the conjugated verb.
