🟦 French Classes in Los Angeles, Malibu & New York — A Complete Practice Method for Americans
Learn French the Real-Life Way — With a Complete Method Designed for You
A Method Born from Real Teaching
GoodFrenchTips began as a simple blog where I shared materials from my French conversation classes at the Alliance Française in Los Angeles.
Very quickly, one thing became clear: students needed more than weekly lessons. They needed tools to practice between classes, a clear and structured method, and human guidance to stay motivated and make real progress.
Today, GoodFrenchTips has grown into a complete French learning platform, used by learners in Los Angeles, Malibu, New York — and across the U.S. — who want to learn French in a way that is practical, engaging, and effective in real life.
What Makes GFT Different
There are many ways to learn French online — but very few offer a complete method, designed by teachers, specifically for American learners.
At GoodFrenchTips, we focus on the four essential skills you need to become fluent:
- Speaking (oral production)
- Writing (written production)
- Reading (written comprehension)
- Listening (oral comprehension)
But there is an even bigger challenge most learners face: the plateau.
Many students reach a point where they practice regularly but stop improving. They develop bad habits, lose confidence, and feel stuck — often without realizing why.
🎯 This is where GFT goes further.
With personalized support, you don’t stay stuck. You receive real feedback, regular guidance, and a method that adapts to your level and pace.
From the moment you join, you take a placement test — and every 6 months, you reassess your level with targeted exercises, followed by a 20-minute live session with a teacher to review your strengths, challenges, and progress.
This is not just practice. It’s a structured path toward real, measurable progress in French.

🟦 Hélène Renaut a teacher at the Alliance Française of Los Angeles

My original degrees are in Music and Literature. After falling in love with San Francisco and moving to California, I taught French and Music in French-American schools while pursuing a career as a singer-songwriter. I now specialize in private and group instruction in Los Angeles. My experience includes accent coaching off and on set, translation and interpretation. I believe in the parallels between language and music learning, fostering rapid progress tailored to students' needs. Working with children, adults and colleagues of different backgrounds and cultures, I have learnt to adapt to various publics, develop sound educational plans, and use patience and empathy to relate to my students and enhance their learning. I am looking forward to helping you along on this linguistic and cultural adventure!
